The task of getting an office set does not end with just moving into or setting up new premises and ordering all the office supplies. The most important task lies in organizing all the supplies that have been ordered. This is the main task that eats up most of the time.

Here are a few tips to get this work done in the right manner quickly and easily.

1. Always have a check list – Keep on verifying with the check list if all the products that were ordered have reached the office.

2. Check whether the products that have reached are in proper conditions and there were no damages that had incurred during the transit.

3. Sort out the products on their specific department. Do not mix up the office stationery with the furniture and so on. Let the line of demarcation between all the types of products be maintained always.

It is not necessary to organise them from end to end before the office starts functioning fully. Just put the products in the right places. That is, place the computers and its periphery near its department and the employees will arrange them out as per their convenience. This will not just reduce the stress of the person overall maintaining it, but also give the staff a satisfaction that it has been organized in the right manner.

There are also people who will help you out in doing such tasks. Surf through the net to get the right organisation to help you out in this regard, and make the most out of your funds, by curbing the office maintenance cost.

If you are doing preschool at home, or even if you are just doing some extra preschool activities with your child from time to time, you probably have a lot of papers and craft supplies taking up space on your countertops and closet shelves.

It was hard for me to get excited about doing preschool activities without being organized first, so I set out to go through all of our supplies and set up an organized storage system that works for me.

Flash Cards and Card Games

I store all of my boys’ flash cards and card games in a small plastic storage container. This container is kept up in a closet where only I can get it down for them. It only took one time of me putting all the cards back in the boxes to realize they couldn’t handle getting into this container on their own!

Art Supplies

Most of our art supplies are stored where my boys can get to them. I purchased a three drawer plastic storage container that works great for art supplies. One drawer holds their crayons, colored pencils, scissors, and glue. The second drawer stores a variety of painting supplies. The third drawer stores miscellaneous items, such as felt pieces for the felt board and plastic letters for the magnetic board. This plastic container is kept near the kitchen table where my boys do their art projects. This keeps it within easy reach when they want to color, paint, or do some other art project.

Craft Supplies

I have a separate plastic storage container just for craft supplies. Most of these supplies aren’t used unless we are doing a special craft project, so the kids don’t need to get in there every day. This container stores things like google eyes, pipe cleaners, crepe paper, etc. This is also where I store the ink pads I don’t want them getting into by themselves.

Worksheets, Workbooks, and Project Instructions

If you like to collect preschool craft and activity ideas like I do, you probably have a lot of piles of paper that need to be sorted and organized. I purchased several plastic file folder storage boxes for all these papers, and they have worked great so far. I sorted my papers into categories like Christmas, Thanksgiving, spring, animals, alphabet, etc. I combined several categories together in one container, and then labeled each container so I would know exactly what is in it. I also placed all of our workbooks in these containers. It’s nice to have a place to put all those miscellaneous papers I always seem to run across. If I cut out an article from somewhere, or photocopy an idea from a book, I have a place to file it away where I can always find it again. You can put away the containers you don’t currently need and just leave out the ones you are currently using.

Preschool Manipulatives and Puzzles

Hopefully your preschooler has a lot of math manipulatives and puzzles to play with. These items should be set out where they can just pick up when they are bored. All of our puzzles are stored inside of benches we have around the table in our kitchen. When our boys want to do a puzzle, they can get them out themselves. Our math manipulatives are stored on a shelf in our entertainment center. Again, the kids have easy access to them and often pick them up when they are bored. We have sewing cards, patterning and sorting activities, and several number, matching, and reading games. I love to see my boys reaching for these great learning activities when they want something to do.

The preschool years are a fun time for you and your child. Whether you are doing preschool at home or your child attends preschool, make sure you have lots of stimulating activities for your child at home that are organized and ready to use when you need them.

For today’s column, we’re going to talk about storage options for our scrapbook, paper and beading supplies. If you’re a regular reader of mine, you know I’m always saying, “Go vertical!” And it doesn’t matter if we’re talking about a craft room, kitchen, bedroom or garage; to maximize space you must go vertical.

I love the upright towers for storing scrapbook sheets and stamp pads. If you purchase the plastic variety, there are pros and cons to them. On the plus side, they’re inexpensive and the drawers are usually clear, enabling you to see their contents. On the downside, the drawers are flimsy when partially pulled out. Your other option is to reuse an old upright wooden chest of drawers. You may already have something like this tucked away in your garage or basement–go check it out now! (well, not right at this exact moment)

Anyway, I’ll give you an example. The winner of my 2005 Messiest Sewing Room ContestTM also loves to scrapbook and make her own greeting cards. She had long ago purchased a couple of ugly (but sturdy) narrow wooden chest of drawers at a yard sale and was using them to store her hundreds of stamp pads. All I did was to have these chests painted, install new drawer knobs, and use my handy label maker to label the drawers. These towers looked brand new, and were much more sturdy than the plastic variety.

Speaking of scrapbook paper, I prefer to store them flat instead of vertically in a hanging file. Did I actually say, “Don’t go vertical when storing paper???” In this instance, yes! Here’s the scoop: Paper bows when supported on the bottom and standing vertically (those of us who are former secretaries are nodding our head emphatically). If you’re able to stand your paper vertically and have it compressed on both sides, then you’re fine. Now, when I do store them horizontally, I don’t want them in a big stack. If you’ve got different types of paper in a stack an inch thick or more, of course you’re going to want a sheet towards the bottom! Use a narrow drawer or slot instead. The great thing is that our storage options continue to multiply. If you haven’t checked out your local scrapbook supply store lately, stop in soon!

Other storage possibilities exist with having customized built-ins installed. If you’re fortunate enough to have these, I envy you! The pros and cons of these are simple. The pros are that you have a professional, completely customizable storage system and work area. The cons are that they are expensive, are not portable (they become a permanent fixture in your home), and there’s usually a lead-time of 6-8 weeks between ordering and installation. Here in Arizona, I work exclusively with Classy Closets (www.classyclosets.com), and my clients have been very pleased with the results! Their closets are made from 3/4″ thermofused melamine, which is a durable, furniture-grade material. They also use concealed Euro-hinges and hardware (which I love!). The drawers pull out smoothly, and there’s the option of installing full-extension glides (how many times have we pulled out drawers and been unable to reach everything in the back of the drawer–very frustrating). The grand prize for the Messiest Sewing Room ContestTM is highly-efficient storage and work area, custom-designed and installed by Classy Closets! The 2006 winner has not yet been announced, so keep an eye out for my future columns or check out my website.

Now, let’s quickly talk about beading. Coincidentally, I attended a class yesterday on how to use your sewing machine to sew beads on garments or quilts. I was a bit skeptical, because I envisioned glass beads shattering if punctured incorrectly with the needle. While that can happen if you aren’t careful, I learned a great technique that is much quicker than hand sewing. All that aside, let’s talk bead storage. I have found that the easiest way to store beads is in small, stackable containers that screw together. You then have a long, sectioned tube that is portable to classes. I don’t label the containers–I find it’s easier to see at a glance what I actually have than to try and create a short labeled description.

Well, I’m on my way to the second day of class learning to bead with the sewing machine, so I’ll close by asking to keep the suggestions coming for future columns.

When you start a craft project, do you end up spending more time looking for your tools and supplies than you do actually working on your craft? If you do, you are not alone! If you do any type of crafting or creative work, the supplies you use can quickly spread out and take over your home. The more crafts and hobbies you do, the more need you have for organization.

Organizing your supplies and tools will allow you to quickly locate the items you need to complete a craft. Organization will also save you money you won’t need to run out at the last minute and purchase a new pair of scissors or skein of yarn to replace the one you can’t find!

There are two different ways to organize your craft supplies, and chances are one will be better for you than the other. If you only work on one or two types of crafts, like scrapbooking and knitting, it is easier to make yourself a complete kit for each craft. That way you can pull out your scrapbooking bag and get started, without grabbing tools from a bunch of different locations.

If you do a huge variety of crafts– beading one day, sewing the next, and making soap a week later, then you should organize your supplies by type. That way you won’t need to dig through your sewing stuff to find your scissors every time you want them for a project.

Organizing by Craft:

If you decide to organize your supplies by the type of craft they are for, make a kit for each craft you do. Ideally, the kit will include everything you use to complete the craft, along with your tools and raw materials.

Start by gathering all of the supplies you have into one area. Doing this will allow you to get an idea of exactly how many items you have, and how big of a container you will need to store them. Once you have everything in one place, select or purchase a container to fit all of the items. Check out the storage section of your local craft store, and the scrapbook section as well– croppers have mastered the art of storage, and you can use their pieces for any craft you’d like. You should also check out the selection of tackle boxes at your local sporting goods store, they are designed with small items in mind.

Pick up an inexpensive pencil box for tools like scissors, tweezers, needles, and related items, so you can find what you need quickly. Use small containers like film canisters and plastic storage containers to hold little items so they don’t get lost.

Place your items in the storage container, with the largest things like books, fabrics, and other big pieces on the bottom. Top with the smallest items, and close the lid. When you are ready to work on a project, simply pull out your box and get started, without wasting time looking for loose items and supplies.

Organizing by Type of Supply:

Creative people often excel in more than one area. It is not unusual for someone who enjoys on craft like quilting to spread out into beading, embroidery, or even knitting. As they learn more techniques, they acquire more supplies. If this sounds like you, you will probably work best if you sort your items by type.

Having all of your fabrics in one location can help you pick out things for a project very quickly. If you sort them by color, you can get a good sense of what you have and what you need, before you head to the store. You can also store all of your scissors and cutting tools together, and grab a handy pair whether you are sewing or working on a paper craft.

Begin by sorting your items by type – put all the beads in one location, all the fabrics in another. Markers and pens stored together, as can adhesives. Choose a container for each type of item, and label the container. That way when you work on a project you can gather what you need, and get a good sense of what supplies you have on hand.

Organizing in this way can help the creative process as well – sometimes just seeing your materials all together can help you see things in a new light, and trigger new ideas.

No matter which technique you choose, organizing your stash of craft supplies can help you find things quickly, and spend more time crafting and less time seeking out lost items.

Whether you’re looking for craft supplies or finished items, Factory Direct Craft has it all. If you feel the creative urge, you can get just about any craft supplies you may need. Whatever you need we’re sure to have!

When a new baby arrives in your home, a lot of things change, including how you organize your home. There are a lot of things that having a new baby adds to your home. Diapers, wipes, bottles, blankets, burp clothes, creams, ointments. The list goes on and on. And all of these things need to find a place to live in your home. That is where home organization comes in. A little organization can go a long way to helping you cope, especially those first few weeks. I highly recommend having all of this setup well in advance of your due date so that everything is prepared.

Diapering Supplies

Setup a diapering station on each floor of your home where you will spend a lot of time with the baby. Changing tables, of course, work great for this and so do the pack-and-plays that come with a changing table piece. With the pack-and-plays you will need a small table with drawers next to it to store all of your diapering supplies. An inexpensive 3-drawer plastic cart works well for this. You’ll need all of the obvious supplies: diaper rash cream, wipes, diapers and some not-so obvious supplies: some clothes for accidents, alcohol wipes or alcohol and cotton swabs for those first few days home from the hospital (you’ll need to clean the umbilical cord stump with these), toys to keep your baby occupied while you change his/her diaper (especially if you have a baby who hates having his/her diaper changed). If you have a changing table, putting all of your diapering supplies in containers can help keep things where they belong once your little one starts crawling and pulling everything off of those shelves.

I also kept extra blankets and burp clothes with the diapering supplies on each floor. Keeping these things organized in our home made it easier to find anything we needed for the baby because we just had to go to one place to get it.

Bottles, Bowls, and Baby Food

Even if you are going to breastfeed, it is a good idea to have some bottles and formula around just in case. If you are going to be formula feeding, having the bottles and the formula in the same place can make it easier to make bottles, especially in the middle of the night when you’re half awake. Having a few bottles pre-made (put the formula in the bottle so all you have to do is add water) before you go to bed is also helpful.

Once your baby is able to start baby food, it is helpful to have the food, bowls, and spoons for it in the same place. Plastic bowls that your baby can pound on and play with are great for those first years. Organizing these supplies in your home can help make those first years easier on you and your baby.

If a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, flood or other disaster or emergency struck, would you have the basic emergency supplies you need? This might sound familiar. You have a box with batteries but the good batteries are mixed with the old ones. Somewhere you have a collection of flashlights. However, when you try them out, almost none of them work. The list could go on of things that you probably have for emergency supplies but just need to organize in a safe and easy ways.

But, how do you find and organize materials for an emergency kit for all situation? How do you find emergency supplies for disaster situations so that they are organized and easy to reach when you need them? Use these seven points to get your emergency organizing started in the right direction.

1. Find Everyday Items

Do you worry about your budget when you think about gathering supplies? Take a sigh of relief because supplies for disasters or emergencies do not have to be difficult to find, expensive, or hard to use. In fact, emergency supplies are basically many of the items you use on a regular basis. You might find them in a different form and store them differently in order to protect them. But mostly, you will use the same type of things you use all of the time plus a few specialty items good for emergency situations.

2. Create Several Sets of Supplies

What would happen if you couldn’t reach a set of emergency supplies? Consider creating two sets of emergency supplies. At least create a full set and a partial set to store in another location. If you can’t reach one set, you might be able to get to the other. If both are accessible that just gives you extra supplies and you might be able to share with others who are less prepared.

3. Start Gathering What You Already Have

Don’t start pulling your shopping list together just yet. Start your emergency supply organizing with items you already have around the house. For instance, extra suitcases or backpacks, toiletries, and dry goods items such as paper towels, toilet paper, and garbage bags are probably already in your closets or shelves and only need to be organized into a designated place to be a part of your emergency kit. Use the suitcases or backpacks to store the emergency supplies.

4. Use Those Holiday Extras

During the year and especially during holidays, do you pick up extra holiday napkins, paper plates or utensils that get put away into cabinets and closets? Instead of letting these go to waste, pull them out and organize them into the emergency area. Using a pretty napkin or festive tablecloth during an emergency could be just the treat you need to help bring down the stress levels.

5. Gather Extra Clothes

Would you want a clean pair of socks or shirt during an emergency? Everyone in the family should organize a whole set of clothes for the emergency supply area. Make this a good time for everyone in the family to go through and clean out their closet. While doing this task, each person can gather an extra set of clothes to put in an emergency storage area.

6. Look for Household Supplies

Have you considered the need for sanitation and cleanliness during an emergency? Gather cleaning supplies that you already have on hand and organize them in your emergency supply area. Look in the house and garage for extra cleansers, garbage bags, tools to turn off the main switches in the house, sponges, plastic tarps and other items. Some of these items could be in your garden shed, trunk of the car, back of the shelf, under the kitchen sink, or in a corner in the hall closet.

7. Go Shopping

What happens after you go through every place in the home to find supplies and you need more? Well now it might be time to go shopping. The good news is that you still don’t have to spend a fortune. When you find a product you need that is on sale, buy at least two or the amount recommended according to your family situation or needs. Put the extras in the emergency kit. Look for items in thrift stores, yard sales, consignment shops, grocery outlets, through online stores or sites, or mail order catalogs and even the Army-Navy Surplus Store.

Always think of being prepared and you will start to notice supplies in many new places. When you travel, keep an eye open for discount stores or even souvenir shops and bargain stores in new areas. Before you realize it, you will have emergency supplies organized and ready for an emergency or disaster situation.

One of the biggest reasons many of us don’t touch our scrapbooks for months is that supplies and photos are scattered all over the place. Having to hunt for a book of stickers or a special pair of scissors takes all the fun out of creating a new page for your scrapbook. Here are few ideas how you can create a scrapbooking organization process.

Group your supplies by theme. Create one general supplies container that has all your essential tools and materials in it. Then sort your stickers, special papers and accessories by category. Depending on what scrapbooks you are working on, you could organize them by particular scrapbook (i.e. wedding scrapbook, child’s scrapbook etc.), or you could organize them by season (Christmas stuff, summer themed supplies etc.) or overall theme or color scheme.

Get the pictures you are planning to use as well. I usually sort them into separate envelopes, or small boxes for each scrapbook I am working on. If you are organizing your supplies by scrapbook, it’s a good idea to keep your picture box for that scrapbook with the rest of your supplies.

I like to use clear plastic bins to store my scrapbooking supplies, so I can easily see what’s inside. Clear, descriptive labels on the outside of the box help as well. Store the boxes of supplies for scrapbooks you are currently working on close to the area where you like to scrapbook. This will keep you from running back and forth for supplies.

Store any supplies for books that you are not currently working on, or any extra supplies you may have purchased on sale, or for future projects in a dark, dry place. A closet in a spare room makes a great storage place. If you are considering storing your scrapbooking supplies in the basement or attic, make sure the area is not damp and doesn’t get too hot or cold. You don’t want to unpack your supplies in a few months and find out that everything has been ruined by mold, bleached from being exposed to light, or warped from heat.

Take a little time to set-up a scrapbooking organization process with your scrapbooking supplies. You’ll find you will enjoy scrapbooking even more when everything you need is right at your fingertips. Go out and get some boxes or plastic bins to store your supplies and start organizing your supplies this week.

Crafts are a great way to pass time and showcase your skills to other people. Not only is it a good hobby, but a social device as well. However, not everyone can create sculptures and figurines like some of the more artistically-talented ones out there. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get into it entirely. It just means that you will have to resort to other media to unleash your creativity. Paper crafts are perfect for those in such situations.

In paper crafts, you may have to rely quite a bit on layouts. This does make things much simpler during the creation process, but as you go along, it does get a bit confusing as you come up with more and more layouts. You must organize them as you go along or it will pile up into a complete mess. However, this is as simple as paper crafts can get since using templates and layouts is less on the labor and more on the imagination. It is not how pretty each layout is, but how they are all put together.

There are a few things that you can do that involve layouts as a starter. You can get some ideas from magazines and newspapers, for example. The colors and typefaces used for each layout is important to create a look and feel that is unique in itself and pleasing to the eye. However, it is not recommended to tear the pages of a magazine as it relies on the magazine itself to integrate its layout and concept with everything else. Once you do tear it from the rest, it becomes different. Maybe you would want that in some cases, but it’s not always recommended to do so.

A good tip is to actually catalogue the magazines for yourself just so that you can have an index of the layouts that you like without having to tear every page apart. You can have cards that details the name of the magazine, the issue date, which pages a particular layout is on, a description of the layout, and what parts of that layout you like. This is so that you don’t have to flip through the magazines every time you want a reference.

Of course, this is an artistic process, so you don’t really have to follow everything written here. It is recommended though that you actually keep a track of your progress, just like the catalogue cards. It may help you out in the long run as you continue to explore your horizons with paper crafts. But then again, you may not need layouts at all, which is perfectly fine as well.

What this is about is showing people that even without much coveted artistic ability, there is still some way to create crafts and actually express yourself. Maybe after some time and with lots of practice, you can get really good at it and even progress to other crafts. Remember that it is not just about the destination, but about the journey as well.

If you need paper, card and card making materials which come in different colors and sizes, visit http://papermilldirect.co.uk.

With the hundreds of thousands of scrapbooking papers and embellishments available on the market, it is easy for your craft area to become overwhelmed by scrapbooking supplies. This becomes an especially difficult challenge for scrapbookers who live in small spaces such as apartments or dorm rooms. Never fear–with a little effort you can follow a few easy steps to create a space for your things that is organized, clean, and beautiful.

You will likely need the most time and space to organize your papers. A good option for this is a paper saver, as made by most of the larger scrapbooking companies. Usually made from plastic, these folder-like portfolios are large enough to hold hundreds of papers and include tabs to separate your pages into categories for easy organization. If you find that you do not have enough room in a paper saver, you might also find it useful to invest in a filing cabinet or one of the sets of drawers made especially for scrapbooking. These are available at all craft stores and online.

Once you own a tool for organization, the next step is to decide how you want to categorize your supplies. The option most often used is color, but you can also separate your paper into themes (holidays, wedding, etc) or by marking, such as solids and stripes. You can also use this system to organize flat embellishments, such as die cuts or stickers.

You also need a place to store your tools and embellishments that are not easily filed. One good way of doing this is by using baskets and a shelving system. Store cutting tools in one basket, glues in another, markers and paint in a third, and so on. By buying baskets in bulk, you will save more money then if you use photo boxes, and the display will be uniform and attractive. Remember to label your baskets so you save time when you’re looking for a particular item.

If you need to save space, however, a basket and shelving system may not work for you. Instead, keep all your tools and supplies stored somewhere safe and out of the way and keep a “kit” of your most used items close at hand in a photo box, basket, tote bag, or other container. That way when you only have time to do a quick page or two, you can use your kit to complete it and then quickly clean up. On the other hand, when you can devote an entire day to scrapbooking, you can pull your supplies out of storage to complete many pages of your album.

Try to remember that keeping your space clean and organized will make scrapbooking easier and more enjoyable in the future. By labeling your storage containers and sorting your papers, you will be able to quickly find the tools you need. Organization is the key to stress-free scrapbooking and creating beautiful albums.

Are you one of those people who have a lot of craft supplies such as paste, scissors, markers, and pencils in your area? Are you having troubles organizing them? Then you might want to start sorting your things so you can make better use of them. Here are sure-fire ways of organizing your craft supplies.

First, collect all the craft supplies that you have. You can start

finding your stuff stored in your room, before going to other places which you may have kept them such as the stock room. This is probably the most important part, since you may get frustrated with the time you will have to spend in looking for your craft supplies. But keep your poise. Give yourself enough time to look for your things. You can spend an hour or so for this, but the point is that you have to gather everything material you have.

After you have gathered your things, throw away the things you don’t need. Dried up glues and watercolor, or tiny scraps are some of the things you may throw away. Keep only those things you can still use.

Then sort the things you have gathered into smaller groups. It would be easier for you to sort the items according to their type- meaning glue sticks, paste, and scissors can be kept in one jar, while decorative things like stickers and watercolors can be kept together. You can also keep things according to how you use them.

Decide where you will keep your craft supplies. Ideally, you should keep your supplies in a place where you usually do your activity. If you like to knit while watching TV, you may keep your knitting items in a basket and store it in you sofa in front of the TV. If you prefer to paint in your room, your painting materials should be kept in your drawer inside your place.

If you have a lot of small items like buttons and beads, then you might want to keep them together in a tackle box which has several compartments where you can store your items. The tackle box should also closed tightly so there would be no spilling of items. You may also store your crafts in a purse especially the knitting materials so you can do your thing even if you are on the go. If you have paper or similar materials, you can use a filing system to store them. Have them stand on a drawer so you can easily sort them and glance at what you need.

Once you have stored your craft supplies, seal every container and label them properly. You can even list down everything that is inside the container so you will know where to find a certain item whenever you need them.
